Nas - 'Salute Me (The General)'

Label: Columbia
We've been quick to knock Swizz Beats before on these pages for his frequently ludicrous baroque Poundstrecher versions of Timbaland beats. So let us be quick to state that this is uncatagorically ACE! Riding on a staccato military drum roll and abrasively industrial synths, this is Nas' strongest single since the hip-hop heaven that was 'Nas Is Like'. A 'bluh-bluh' call for the club to throw its arms in the air and stomp around the dancefloor like a possessed army of hip-hop stormtroopers. Basically, 'Salute Me' takes the battle rhymes to the battlefield and slaughters the enemy.
