Label: Epic
Let's get one thing clear from the start - this may be US rock but it's not nu metal or rap metal or what ever you want to call it. Incubus - after threatening to become nothing more than an underrated cult band - achieved much-deserved plaudits and platinum sales in the US with 'Make Yourself' in '99 and last year's 'Morning View' from which this euphoric anthem is lifted. Sounding like the poppier single that never made it on to Pearl Jam's classic debut 'Ten', 'Wish You Were Here' is an uplifting grunge-tinged tale of daydreaming. It also features one of the best breaks heard in rock for a while that will no doubt prompt a new craze of air-drumming as the guitars soar back in around the three minute mark. Magic stuff!
