QUATERMASTER - ''Everybody Sing''
(Monday January 21, 2002 1:54 PM )

Released on 28/01/2002
Label: Plastic Fantastic

A limited Plastic release featuring Quartermasters quirky but funky boundary crossing antics.

Although 'Everybody Sing' is ostensibly the A-side, it's b-side, 'Have A Good Time', that turns out be more interesting. Implied jazz breaks are joined by carefully worked flute rises and insistent beats that never leave the formulae, locking into the pattern while further lifts are provided by a breathy "Have A Good Time" vocal sample. Minimal deep house meets the Sasha school of progress.

The A-side catches the quips of Greenskeepers or Big Hair, exhibiting the same lunatic qualities, but with heavier presence, while the flute again adds interest at the top end.
