One of the many spiritually moving moments of 'Simple Things', 'Distractions' sees Sia intone a half spoken, crackling and, given her antipodean roots, surprising South American nasal drawl, as she pleads her love.
Set against a descending chord structure and bathed in warm glow of analogue synthesiser washes and Sally Herbert's string arrangements, 'Disctractions' demonstrates Zero 7's typically tactile production.
One of the obvious, if not the most obvious, choices for a single on the album, it will already be familiar to anyone who's been anywhere near a radio, television or coffee table over the last year.
Whether over familiarity will breed contempt or mammoth sales remains to be seen.
