Having crashed and burned quite disastrously following the huge success of his 1997 debut LP (and the comparative commerical flop of his second), Finley Quaye appears to have finally found his inner calm.
Refreshed and once more chilled-out, the one time master of sun-soaked soul presents us with 'Dice' - a laid-back love song that, hallelujah, reminds us of the unquestionable talent that lay beneath all that drug-fuelled bravado.
Produced by William Orbit, 'Dice' is closer to a lullaby than a pop record - lightly strummed guitars, a smattering of electronica and wafting backing vocals from Beth Orton encase Quaye's distinctive tones and almost send you to sleep (in a good way) in the process.
It's hardly a number one single, rather a pleasant re-introduction to a man who once lost his way. Let us pray that any new found success doesn't go to his head...
