The much hyped Futureshock close their year with possibly their most accessible release to date. Lifted from, their critically acclaimed album 'Phantom Theory', 'Late At Night' now comes to you with five (count 'em) mixes over two 12's and thankfully benefits from the exercise.
The Original mix blends Afrika Bambaata electro fuelled rhythms with Gary Numan 'Are Friends Electric' synths, a druggy synthesized vocal and enough hallucinogenic effects and tortured yelps to have the gurners going for gold whilst vagrants and sewer rats fear for their safety and run around nervously checking the bolts in the foundations underneath every club.
Tomcraft puts his Ger-manic prog/trance stamp on it by stomping beat-wise for all he's worth and that's fair enough but the highlight here has got to be the Switch Remix.
Surely ones to watch for 2004, Switch (fresh from their slamming Audio Bully's remix) deliver a laid back but subtly banging, funky little foot soldier with added MC attitude, sub-aquatic incidentals, air guitar moments and soon come vocals.
If you're looking for something special this is perfect for night, late at night.
