The 'My Soundtrack' season continues with DJ team Scratch Perverts giving you the chance to hear the music that they are listening to right now. 'My Soundtrack' sees influential people from the world of fashion, music, design, art and film share the music that has influenced their own work.
After doing ‘the 9-to-5-thing’; working at a solicitors’ office and a record shop, Tony Vegas decided to quit it all in 1993 and go to the US to hunt down some rare vinyl and check out some DJs. Whilst there, he had the idea of creating a UK crew of DJs with the idea of performing together. When he returned, he hooked up with some-time TV Editor Joel Harrison who too was tired of it all.
The pair started mixing together, inviting others along to jam and practising all the hours God made. Scratch Perverts were born. By 2001, they had won a few world titles, rocked the best clubs in the world and found their third and final member in the form of Edinburgh-based DJ, Plus One. They’d done all they could, even devising a 20-minute routine using turntables for beats and feedback for bass, so decided to move on.
Scratch Perverts now have their own event, The Beatdown at Fabric. It’s a night which, like their Soundtrack, reflects their broad musical interest and is always thinking outside the box we all call hip-hop. Tune in for a melting pot of styles from the likes of N.E.R.D, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Aphex Twin and much, much more.
